1. Who we are

UK Planning Leads is a data service that provides weekly lists of approved planning applications to tradespeople and construction businesses across the UK. We operate at ukplanningleads.co.uk.

2. Data we collect and where it comes from

We work with two categories of data:

Planning portal data (publicly available) — We collect information published by UK local planning authorities on their public-facing planning portals. This includes:

• Site addresses of approved planning applications
• Application reference numbers and proposal descriptions
• Applicant names (where published by the council)
• Agent names, email addresses and phone numbers (where published by the council)
• Decision dates and application types

This data is made public by councils under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. We do not obtain it from any private source.

Subscriber and prospect data — We collect business contact information for tradespeople and construction companies, including:

• Business name, trade type and operating area
• Business email address and phone number
• Website domain

This is collected from publicly accessible business directories, websites and Google Maps listings. We do not purchase data lists.

3. How we use your data

We use data for the following purposes:

• Delivering the service — Sending weekly lead lists to paying subscribers
• Business outreach — Contacting trade businesses to let them know the service exists
• Service improvements — Understanding which areas and trades generate the most useful leads

4. Legal basis for processing

We rely on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) as our legal basis for processing business contact data. Our legitimate interest is in promoting a service that is genuinely relevant to the businesses we contact — tradespeople who benefit from knowing about local approved planning applications.

We only contact businesses, not individuals in a personal capacity. All outreach relates directly to the recipient's trade or profession.

You can object to this processing at any time (see Section 7).

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data to any third party. We use the following processors to operate the service:

• Gmail (Google) — Email delivery
• Stripe — Payment processing (we never see your full card details)
• Netlify — Website hosting

All processors are GDPR-compliant and operate under appropriate data processing agreements.

6. How long we keep data

• Planning portal data — Retained indefinitely as a historical record of public planning decisions
• Subscriber data — Retained for the duration of the subscription and up to 2 years after cancellation for accounting purposes
• Prospect/outreach data — Removed within 30 days of a valid opt-out request

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access — Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
• Erasure — Ask us to delete your data
• Objection — Object to us processing your data for marketing purposes
• Correction — Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Portability — Request your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@ukplanningleads.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.

To unsubscribe from outreach emails, reply to any email with the word STOP and we will remove you immediately.

8. Cookies

Our website does not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar tracking technology.

9. Security

We store data securely using encrypted storage. We do not store payment card details — all payments are handled by Stripe.

10. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first at hello@ukplanningleads.co.uk. If we are unable to resolve it, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will note the date of the last update at the top of the page. Continued use of the service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
